This stunning 18th century stone barn conversion in Wrightington, Lancashire with a unique character needed a truly bespoke landscape design to complement this building. Stockscape supplied the paving and walling materials together with PDG Groundworks who were initially awarded the project & the result was a stunning & in-keeping design. The work consisted of three individual stone tiered patio areas encased in natural random stone walling, a large drive area in Tower tumbled sandstone setts. Front terraced courtyard area in Tower flamed sandstone paving all encased in random walling. After a site survey a set of working plans were drawn up and the old farm site had to be cleared of concrete yard slabs & buildings. All new land & top drains were installed. Concrete strip footing were excavated & random sandstone walling was constructed to form the individual patio areas. 50mm 600 x R/L & 50mm 450 x R/L Tower sandstone paving was used with Tower sandstone tumbled setts to the outer edges. All the underside of the stone paving was brushed with a pre mix primer & laid on a full polymer bedding mix. The sub base consisted of a compacted type 1 MOT hardcore with 50mm sand & cement screed. The completed laid stone was cleaned, & grouted with Instarmac, Flowpoint. The drive areas were constructed using 65mm Tower sandstone tumbled setts, all laid on a full polymer bedding mix with added limestone to strengthen the mix. The sub base consisted of a compacted type 1 MOT hardcore with 50mm sand & cement screed. The completed laid stone was cleaned & grouted with Instarmac, Flowpoint. The front courtyard areas consisted of 30mm 450 x R/L Tower sandstone flamed paving with Tower sandstone setts to the outer edge. All the paving was laid on a full polymer bedding mix. The sub base consisted of a compacted type 1 MOT hardcore with 50mm sand & cement screed. The completed laid stone was cleaned & grouted with GftK 800 Epoxy resin mortar mix.
